1862 34 stars US Cavalry Guidon Pennant flag
US Cavalry Guidon flag, quality fully embroidered cotton flag.
All US military units had a US national flag and a unit flag as a matter of unit pride and to help identify units on a battlefield.
The Infantry had large flags but carrying a large flag on horse back was not practical, so the cavalry had a smaller sized flag with a swallow tail (V cut) design so it flies better. This is often called the 34 stars and stripes flag.
A cavalry troop would have this 34 US flag and a troop unit flag (a red and white flag).
This cavalry US flag is the 1862 pattern which was used in the American Civil War (ACW).
This replica regulation 34 star cavalry guidon flag features:
- Cotton fabric with fully embroidered stars, this is not a cheap polyester nylon flag with printed stars.
- Blue corner has an inner circle of 10 white embroidered stars, outer circle of 20 stars and a single star in each corner.
- 7 red stripes and 6 white stripes.
- The edge has a sewn in channel so it can be mounted on a pole.
- size 87cms x 59cms.
