1937 BEF entrenching tool cover with entrenching tool
This model of entrenching tool was first issued to British Soldiers with the 1937 webbing before WW2, The British Expeditionary Forces soldiers used this in France 1940 on there retreat to Dunkirk and can be seen on many iconic pictures. It was found to be not to be as good as the 2 piece entrenching tool issued with the 1908 webbing so upon return to UK the 1908 pattern was re issued with a new pouch.
