This model of Jungle Green bush hat was based on the Indian pattern Bush hat and were privately purchased in 1944 from a military tailor in Calcutta at an extravagant price. It soon acquired the nickname of IWT hat (I Was There) from a book telling soldiers stories by the same name. they were usually stitched with the regimental flash on the side.

This model of Jungle Green bush hat is based on the Indian pattern Bush hat and were privately purchased in 1944 by British solidiers from a military tailor in Calcutta at an extravagant price. It soon acquired the nickname of IWT hat (I Was There) from a book telling Soldiers stories by the same title. they were usually stitched with the regimental flash on the side.
The bush hat features stiched eyelets, latter issue ones have metal vents and a double layered stiched crown which was surpossed to prevent sun strock and again the latter issue one just hat a plain crown.
The British Army eventually issued a jungle bush hat similar with metal eyelet and single layered crown in 1945 for jungle warfare to replace the felt bush hat.
