This Badge set would have been worn by all soldiers in the 1st Bn The Hampshire Regiment on their BD Battle Dress uniform in Operation Overlord the Invasion of Normandy as part of the 50th division when they arrived in landing Crafts on the morning of 6th June 1944, 

He was a member of the 50th Division and so wears the TT Div patch and junior Brigade Arm of service strips on both upper Arms with his Regimental shoulder titles Hampshire above these.
