This Badge set would have been worn by all soldiers in the 6th Bt Royal welsh on their BD Battle Dress uniform in Operation Overlord the Invasion of Normandy as part of the The 53rd Welsh took part in the preparations for Operation GOODWOOD and later fought in the battle of the Falaise Pocket.
.In the break-out at the end of the Normandy Campaign, the Division advanced to the River Somme by the end of August.
He was a member of the 53th Division and so wears the W Div patch and Infantry Arm of service stripes on both upper Arms with his Regimental shoulder titles Royal Welsh Fusiliers above these.
