50 Commando was formed in early 1940 in Egypt from soldiers already serving there including Infantry and the 1st (Yeomanry) Cavalry Brigade. Operations took place in Benghazi, Rhodes, Cyprus, Castelorizzo and Crete as part of Layforce.
The badge was a miniature version of the Knuckle Duster knife and was worn on their headwear
The soldiers wore a mixed bag of KD uniforms
