American Indian Wars 1874 Leather Belt and US Buckle

£29.99 £24.99

American Indian wars type brass buckle and leather belt, this is the type of belt worn by Custer's 7th Cavalry at the battle of the Little Big Horn.

The brass US square belt buckle is the 1872 pattern buckle and the leather belt is the 1874 pattern belt. The square 1872 US belt buckle was worn by enlisted men and NCO, after this date only the officers wore the eagle and wreath buckle (see item AF093).

This 1874 belt and US buckle can often be seen used in the wild west by ex soldiers who have converted them into cowboy gun rigs or just carried on using them with the issue pistol holster as gun rig, sometimes they simply added sewn on cartridge loops onto the belt.

The US Indian wars belt is available in two sizes:

The sizes are the actual measurements of the belts, when you order remember how you are going to wear the M1874 belt and brass buckle. You will need to allow (add a few inches on) for any clothes the belt is going over. If you are wearing it a belt for your jeans allow 2" extra if you are going to wear it over a shirt and tunic you will need to add at least 5" depending on the jacket you are going to wear it over. Just put the jacket on and measure over the jacket to find the size to order.

You can of course add extra holes into the belts to make them smaller. Sizes are from the tip of the buckle to the first and last punched hole on the belt.

  • Medium belt measures from 41" to 47" (104 to 120cm). Will fit someone approximately with a waist of between a 34" and 42" when worn over a coat.
  • Large belt measures from 49" to 56" (124 to 142cm). Will fit someone approximately with a waist of between a 42" and 50" when worn over a coat.

Price is for 1x 1872 pattern square US belt buckle and a 1874 pattern leather belt.
