For field and combat use the officers mainly wore the same uniform as the enlisted man, they often privately purchased a field shirt which is similar to the enlisted man's M1937 wool shirt but with a bit more style!

These officers wool field shirts by Kay Canvas are made with the same wool fabric as the M1937 enlisted wool shirt by Kay Canvas but it has shoulder epaulettes, extra panel down the front opening for a smarter look and the inside of the collar is lined for comfort. Unlike the M1937 shirt there is no gas flap on the inside.

The field shirt was worn with the combat uniform like the M1937 wool trousers, M43 uniform, M1942 jump suit or under the M41 jacket.
