ARC WW2 American Red Cross Nurse Dress with Short Sleeves

The ARC (American Red Cross) performed many duties for the general well being of all troops and including the popular image of Red Cross Girls serving Doughuts and Coffee from the mobile Canteens.

This grey ward dress was officially called the "Hospital and recreation corps uniform" and was worn by volunteers in the ARC who served in the wards. These ladies that wore this grey dress were nick named the "Grey Ladies".

The American Red Cross ward dress has removable white collars and removable grey shoulder epaulets so they can be washed. The A.R.C. ward dress was worn with a white coif style hat with a grey backing (hat not included).

The ARC ward dress was worn with low heeled white shoes with white or grey hose (tights) and they wore a special metal red cross hospital and recreation corps pin badge above the red cross patch on the chest pocket.
