The VUA (Valorous Unit Award) is the second highest military unit decoration that can be awarded to a US Military unit, it is second only to the Presidential Unit Citation (PUC).
The VUA is awarded to whole units rather than individuals and is awarded for displaying extraordinary heroism in action against an armed enemy. It is the same level of heroism required for an individual to be awarded the silver star.
