This is the metal First Lieutenant officer rank issued by the SVN (South Vietnamese) and worn by the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) and the US military advisors assigned to work along side ARVN troops.
The SVN name for a 1st Lt. is called Trung uy.
The US troops wore both the normal US rank and the ARVN equivalent so that everyone would know the rank of the officer.
