The idea of wearing special insignia to show that the soldier was an Infantryman started during the Korea war and in 1952 all US Infantrymen wore the blue lanyard and blue plastic backing discs behind the metal Branch of Service on the collars.
The US Army Blue Infantry lanyard cord (fourragere) is worn on the right shoulder of the Class A dress greens, Dress blues, Summer dress shirt (chino's) and the Class B shirt. It was worn during the Vietnam war and it is still worn today.
These lanyards are in new condition and are from a US Government contractor so they are the same as issued to the US Army.
