1940 Pattern Dismounted Greatcoat by Kay Canvas
This model of Greatcoat replaced the 1909 single breasted Greatcoat that was in use by soldiers up until the beginning of the 2nd World War.
The model 1940 Greatcoat was issued to all dismounted soldiers as it was longer in length than the mounted version for cavalry and mounted troops. The model 1940 dismounted greatcoat featured some improvements like the doubled breasted buttons to keep out more wind and rain and the inverted pleats in the centre of the back to allow more flexibility.
