This is what a WW2 British Airborne Riflemen of the 6th Airborne Division which he would have worn into Normandy on June 6th 1944.

This British Airborne Riflemen of the 6th Airborne Division and this is what he would have worn once he had landed by Parachute into Normandy on June 6th 1944.

The Paratrooper wore a 1st pattern Denison Smock with Knitted cuffs over a 1937 battledress Jacket when he landed on the drop zone, the Denison smock would have had the soldiers jump wings and rank on the right arm only, Officers would have worn rank on both shoulders.
His MK1 Paratrooper Steel Helmet with a leather chinstrap was the main model used on D Day and was fully camouflaged up with a nets and lengths of hessian woven into it to help conceal his shape from the enemy.
The 1937 webbing set was generic to most British soldiers as the ammo pouches will fit either Sten, Bren or Enfield mags and grenades, A newly issued lightweight gasmask with bag would have been carried together with his entrenching tool hanging on his webbing.
A toggle rope around his neck was used for numerous tasks including connected together with others as a climbing rope.or could be used to pull the Airborne lightweight trailer
This Rifleman carries .303 Lee Enfield with extra ammo in a cotton bandolier slung over his shoulder

PLEASE NOTE: The Denison Smock sizes above are given as if you were wearing one of them in WW2 with Battle dress and wool shirt underneath plus still being roomy to store in extra gear you might need on landing. If you require a more fitted/ smart looking Smock then it might be worth choosing a smaller size. If you see original photographs of WW2 Airborne soldiers wearing Denison Smock’s then shoulders do hang off and the jacket is generally very loose/ baggy.
