The Tropal Coat is a full length Overcoat with the outer body made of a durable and heavy canvas which was stiff from issue. The canvas is both waterproof and windproof making the coat very popular in the Desert. The collar could be worn up around the neck or folded down which was lined with wool. Extra large pockets on each hip with flaps to seal in contents from a dust storm. Kapok was used to line the main body which was made from the fibres of the tropical kapok plant found in the Philippines and East Asia. Tropal was the trading name for this insulating material hence the name can be seen as Kapok or Tropal lined Coat.
