Foreign Service Tunic for Other Ranks of the 24th foot ((Warwickshire regiment) 1st and 2nd battalion.
This tunic is not like others available on general sale but after months of work and research in conjunction with Edwin Field a Victorian military specialist and member of the Uk's premier Zulu war Re-enactment group the "Diehards" we have made available what Private Hook and his comrades would have worn at Rorke's Drift

- Scarlet coloured (Brick Red abolished 1871)
- Wool serge fabric
- Correct frock 3/4 length (most replicas are to long)
- Single row of 5 Victorian General service buttons (regimental buttons abolished 1874)
- Standup collar is Scarlett with regimental green pointed collar patches
- Collar lined with white linen
- Single hook closure with leather throat guard
- Shoulder boards Scarlet and piped in white tape
- Cuffs are decorated with a pointed half panel of regimental green and edged in white tape
- Crow's foot knot at the point of cuffs
- 2 rear brass belt hooks
- 2 rear general service buttons and white piping
- 1 inside pocket made of coarse white linen
The Foreign Service Tunic was called a frock in 1879 as this was an unfitted garment with no waist band or pockets.
All badges and equipment not included but available extra
B company 2nd battalion 24th foot was the brave company of 100 soldiers that defended Rorke's Drift on 22nd January 1879 against 1000's of Zulus. The 1st battalion 24th foot and some companies of the 2nd battalion were massacred at Islandlwana and all soldiers up to Colour Sergeant would have worn this Foreign Service tunic.
