This Corporal is part of the famous "Desert Rafts" 7th Armoured Division around the time of the Battles of El Alamein in July 1942 as his job was to supply Infantry support to the tanks, where they would advanced with the tanks clearing out fox holes of German Infantry soldiers, escort prisoners, man defensive trenches and going on fighting patrols to capture enemy prisoners to be interrogated.
The Cpl is ready for a fighting patrol out in No Mans land he’s dressed in his KD shorts and Airtex shirt, equipped with his South African made MK2 tommy helmet, 1937 webbing set with full waterbottle and entrenching tool in case he needs to dig a shell scrape, plus he’s equipped the old but reliable No1 SMLE Rifle and long1907 bayonet. Gas mask is worn on the chest in the Alert postion.
