He earned a sharpshooter badge (AG634) for the .45 pistol (AG635) and M1 rifle (AG636) and a marksman badge (AG632) for the M2 carbine (AG637). He received a Good Conduct Medal (AG329). He was twenty-three years old when he was drafted as a recruit and age twenty-five when he left.
