Luftwaffe Feldjagerkorps Gorget with chain worn by the Luftwaffe.
- Metal neck chain 30" long 80 cms
- Wool felt backing
- Rear tunic hook
By 1943, World War II was turning against Germany and morale amongst the front line troops was dropping. Until this time, the Feldgendarmerie and Geheime Feldpolizei had been relied upon to try to curb desertion and maintain discipline, however these men had other duties as well and the situation was getting out of hand. In November 1943, a new formation was created - the Feldjägerkorps. In order to be eligible for service, soldiers had to have a minimum 3 years frontline combat experience and have earned the Iron Cross 2nd class
These gorgets by RUM are high quality and made in several pieces the main body has a brushed aluminum colour with a seperate Luftwaffe eagle in the center, two buttons and the inscription on a dark grey scroll fixed onto the gorget. The luftwaffe eagle, scroll and buttons are all painted in a fluorescent, yellow paint so they can be seen at night. For the finishing touch the gotget has the correct, linked chain and tab hangers on the reverse side, with the underside being lined with field grey wool.
Part of the Richard Underwood Militaria range of quality German reproductions.
