Know as the FNFL this French commando unit landed on D day at Ouistreham 6th June 1944 as aprt of 4 Commando.
In 1943 the green commando beret was issued and a FNFL patch was sewn on to the beret as a cap badge, in May 1944 this was replaced by the Bronze cap badge
