General Montgomery was in charge of the British Army During the build up to the Invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord June 1944. He was head of the British 8th Army and is seen in many pictures wearing his British Army battle dress uniform visiting troops training in England during 1943/44 and then also in Normandy after D Day on June 6th. He is also the general in charge of Operation Overlord Arnhem September 1944 and again can be seen wearing his battle dress uniform with his famous Black beret with 2 cap badges.
