This Rank with tan background was worn on Jump Smocks by Paratroopers of the 7th Fliegerdivision during the Invasion of Crete in 1941 ( Operation Mercury). It was the last Major combat jump in WW2 by German Fallschirmjager troops and this rank badge was worn long after as a mark of a Crete combat veteran on jump smocks,
