Luftwaffe Combat Rank Oberfeldwebel Tan For Jump Smocks

This Luftwaffe rank with tan background  was worn on Jump Smocks by Paratroopers of the 7th Fliegerdivision during the Invasion of Crete in 1941 ( Operation Mercury). It was the last Major combat jump in WW2 by German Fallschirmjager troops and this rank badge was worn long after as a mark of a Crete combat veteran on jump smocks,

Tan wool background with white sewn on rank.  

• Oberfeldwebel equivalent to British rank of Warrant Officer 2nd class

Luftwaffe personnel wore this special rank patch on both upper sleeves on the following;

• Knockensack German Fallscirmjager jump smock  
• Flight coveralls
