This webbing set was worn by the Paratroopers jumping into Crete May 1941 Called Operation Merkur (Mercury).
This webbing set was also worn by Fallschirmjager in 1939 during the invasion of Poland and in 1940 Norway, Belgium and the Low Countries.

This webbing set was worn by the Paratroopers jumping into Crete May 1941 Called Operation Merkur (Mercury), The paratrooper would have a fighting order belt kit which would have contained the essential items for close combat fighting with his Luger P08 pistol on his belt for personal defense as the MP40 would have been in a drop container, Ammo for his MP40 in a single pouch on the right hand side, a Bread bag containing rations, Water bottle and a entrenching tool to dig a shell scrape to escape from enemy fire.
This webbing set was also worn by Fallschirmjager in 1939 during the invasion of Poland and in 1940 Norway, Belgium and the Low Countries.
