M1 carbine sling and M3 Grease Gun Sling Tan

US WW2 M1 carbine canvas sling in tan (officially OD #3).

This sling is designed for the M1 carbine and has a buckle on one end and a pull the dot fastener on the other end.

The end with the pull the dot fastener fits onto the sling fitting on the barrel end of the carbine and the other end goes into the wood butt stock and loops around the metal M1 carbine metal oil bottle (the oil bottle holds the end of the sling into the butt) and then fastens into the metal buckle on the sling.

This is the early pattern of sling which has a "C" shaped metal tip at the end.

This sling is also used to carry the M3 sub machine gun, which is more popular know as the Grease gun.

When using the sling on the M1 carbine you will need a M1 carbine oil bottle or a tube of the same size to hold the sling into the butt of the M1 carbine, if you are using the sling on the grease gun you do not need the oil bottle for it to fit onto the grease gun.
