German Heer (Army) Reconnaissance shoulder boards.
Field grey shoulder boards with the yellow piping for the Recon units.
These are worn on the M40, M42, M43 and M44 wool tunics.
The field green/grey shoulder boards are piped in yellow for the reconnaissance (recon).
We refer to the shoulder boards as the M40 model or pattern simply as they can be worn with the M40, M42, M43 and the M44 uniforms. They are sometimes referred to as the M43, mid war, late war or just the field grey shoulder boards but we call them the M40 for ease of identity.
