The training schools where set up similar to the Ranger schools.
The Mac V (Military Assistance Command- Vietnam) Recondo badge was designed in the shape of an arrowhead to signify the hunting and tracking skills of an American Indian, the arrowhead was placed facing downward to signify an assault from the sky. The standard badge was black and white for night and day operations.
