German WW2 SS shoulder boards with the rank tresse and rank pip for a Oberscharfuhrer.
These black wool shoulder boards have white piping with silver tresse sewn on them and a silver pip.
The rank tresse is the early war silver coloured version.
The SS used black wool shoulder boards throughout the war the only thing that really changed was the rank tresse that was sewn onto the edges of shoulder boards. The tresse was originally silver but during the war (sometime in 1940) the tresse was changed to a grey colour with a slight green shade. After 1940 both silver and the subdued tresse was worn on the shoulder boards.
