This RAF Uniform set represents a Flight Sergeant who is based at RAF Manston in Kent, He would have worn this Battle Dress on the  Air base when on duty and also out of camp when off duty maybe having a pint down the local or traveling home by train.
The Uniform has changed since 1940 in the Battle of Britian and now wearing the now general Issue Battle Dress uniform issued to both Officers, Sergeants.

Serving in Bomber Command flying over WW2 occupied Europe and Germany in either a Lancaster or Wellington Bomber this RAF Flight Sergeant is a Air Gunner who mans the Bomber in one of the gun positions 

His uniform has changed much since the Battle of Britian wearing the now general Issue Battle Dress uniform issued to both Officers ,Sergeants and all other flying crew  which proves more practical in the air, From his Battledress Jacket  eyelet hangs his ACME whistle which is the mark of an active aircrew member and was kept here handy if the pilot had to parachute out and would be used to attract a rescue party.

This Air Gunner is a  veteran Sergeant  who saw service in the desert war in North Africa of 1940-1942 against general Rommel's Africa korp and can proudly wear his Africa Star Ribbon bar below his Air Gunners Wing on his BD jacket, The Africa Star was the only WW2 campaign medal to be issued during WW2 as it finished in 1942 all other campaign medals and stars were not issued until the WW2 finished on May 8th 1945 on VE Day.
