This Navigator is a veteran Officer now as he wears a Africa star ribbon on his BD jacket as he served in the Desert Air Force in North Africa during 1941-42 and the only campaign medal was issued and worn during WW2.

His uniform has much changed since 1940 in the Battle of Britian wearing the now general Issue Battle Dress uniform issued to both Officers ,Sergeants and all other flying crew which proves more practical in the air.
He also wears the latter pattern 1941 Mae West in case he is shot down over the channel and hooked onto his BD collar is his trusty ACME whistle to alert any Air Sea rescue which is worn over his blue battle dress and White roll neck to keep him warm.
The latter war C type helmet with his MK8 googles both introduced after 1942.
