He would wear his Divisional patch and Infantry Arm of service stripes on both upper Arms with his Regimental shoulder titles above these. To have authority over the common soldier he was given a provisional rank of Lance Corporal to complete the set an MP always wore his Black MP Armband worn on right arm and a white whistle lanyard
