2nd Lieutenant The Parachute Reg Combat uniform, Normandy and Arnhem 1944
This Officer has just dropped by parachute over the fields of Normandy early on the morning of June 6th in Operation Overlord. Or a few months later when jumping in Operation Market Garden just outside Arnhem sometime after September 17th, 1944.

This Officer has just dropped by parachute over the fields of Normandy early on the morning of June 6th in Operation Overlord. Or a few months later when jumping in Operation Market Garden just outside Arnhem sometime after September 17th, 1944.
They often carried a pistol kept handy on the belt and a Sten gun stowed in a drop bag, this pilot is wearing the .
He has a folding map case around his neck which Airborne Officers privately purchased and a whistle which he could blow for V for Victory (3 short followed by one long blast) as a Rally call once they had landed in case they were spread around the DZ.
He also wears a US Army parachute scarf around his neck which was cut from a damaged parachute to keep away the wind which he has acquired while on an Exercise.
His Denison has been converted to a full zip which was common as its more practical for Officers to wear and has the Officers brown Boots. He also wears his Airborne BD trousers only issued to parachute troops together with a later Mk2 steel helmet which has been scrimmed to break up his silhouette.
