This type of tin was issued to British Royal Airforce Pilots during WW2, they were designed to keep the contents safe and dry, this would be carried incase of an Emergency and only then to be opened.
The tin is made of metal just like an old fashioned tobacco tin with a seal inside the lid to keep contents dry and fresh with a clear sticky label on outside declaring the contents.
