Originally Issued in 1943 as an Overhead Smock to be worn over BD Jacket and jumper in cold weather in North West European campaign. They proved very popular with soldiers as a lightweight camouflage Smock but many were Modified with a full length zip.
They were worn post WW2 by the Special Air Service in the Middle east, Northern Ireland, the French Foreign legion in Vietnam and also by Normal Infantry soldiers.
The colouring and Pattern was very distinctive which was large and irregular print with sharp edges and some that look like they were applied by a brush.
