One of the Armoured Regimnets that served thoughout the entire service of the 8th Armoured Brigade was the Sherwood Rangers who were first Yeomanry ashore in France on D-Day, landing two minutes before H hour in DD Sherman Tanks then It took part in the liberation of Bayeux and was in the thick of the tank fighting around Caen us Sherman firefly.
The Regiment was then part of the rapid advance which followed across Northern France, Belgium and Holland. The Sherwood Rangers were in the 8th Independent Armored brigade which was part of XXX corp in operation market Garden and in its Reconnaissance Troop was the first British unit to enter Germany.
