The Special Constabulary Long Service medal was issued from 1919 to 1965 and would have been worn at the end of WW1 by soldiers who served in the special constabulary with their WW1 trio set on the SD/ BD tunic. The medal was issued for 9 years’ service with war years 1914-18 and 1939-45 as double.
The ribbon set could also have been worn by an old soldier who served in WW1and re-enlisted back in either the Armed forces or the police in WW2 as the average age of a WW1 veteran in WW2 would have been 35 years.
