In the Raiders film Indy he uses a MkVII gas mask with a leather shoulder strap, so we have made a replica leather shoulder strap for this bag. The leather strap is included with this bag but is not fitted onto it. If you want to use the leather strap on the bag you need to cut off the canvas stap that is on the bag then thread one end of the leather strap through one of the buckle on the side of the bag then fix the other end of the strao onto the buckle on the other side and fix with the enclosed metal stud.
The bags diensions are approximately 10 x 10 x 3 inches or 25cm x 25cm x 7.5cm.
Please note these bags are original war time bags, so are over 80 years old. We have several bags and they do vary slightly in colour and shade and there might be some storage marks on them but they have never been issued.
A short history of the Waring and Gillow company is that during WW1 the Lancaster factory was turned over to war production, making ammunition chests for the royal Navy and propellers for aircraft. Then during WW2 they produced parts for gliders and the Mosquito aircraft, while bags (including the gas mask bags), tents and camouflage nets were made by the W & G upholstery department.
