- 1937 Spike frog dated 1942 by M.W & S ltd
This bayonet is a late WW2 No 4 MKIII Spike Bayonet, the socket is constructed by welding seven sheet steel stampings together, eliminating the need for socket forging. Even the spring plunger is a stamping.
Joseph Lucas Ltd., Chester Street, Birmingham, produced a total of 196,200 units, all under the makers code M158 and the No. 4 Mk. III was declared obsolete in 1946,
