Used by Soldiers in WW1 and WW2 on 1908 and 1937 webbing as te pack never changed design.
The large pack was worm when on marches between camps and would have carried the soldiers extra kit not required when fighting, like jumper, blanket, spare boots etc. On the outside he would use the 2 utlity straps to form a cross and carry his helmet while wearing his cap instead. The large pack connects to the shoulder straps by using the 2" brass buckles.
