M44 Splinter Rucksack made of Zeltbahn Fabric with backpack Straps WW2 German

German Model 1944 Splinter canvas rucksack by Fabric Adler Berg

This M44 rucksack in splinter were originally field made by military units from old Zeltbahns as they offered better camouflage and were more waterproof 

The M44 rucksack was modified from the earlier Model 1931 mountain Rucksack 

The M44 was designed to replace the Tornister 39 model pack and due to its large capacity and practicality is became part of the general marching order from all ground soldiers from 1944 onwards, it can be carried either attached to the Y straps, or carried as a rucksack with the extra shoulder straps supplied.

The pack features an internal cotton  pocket to carry coking pots, cleaning kit and sew kits etc.

• Leather side tabs to attach utility straps so blankets or Zeltbahns can be carried
