During WW2 the German soldier made his own helmet camouflage whether it be a rubber car inner tube cut up, chicken wire or Hessian sacking, but with the introduction of Army splinter camouflage this helmet cover was standard issue.
The Splinter helmet cover was made from of 5 sections sewn together with double seams and 6 foliage loops around the outside at different angles to allow grass etc to be inserted which breaks up the soldiers silhouette with a drawstring around the edge so it could fit any size helmet.
