The German Red Cross not only supplied nurses to work in hospital alongside regular Nurses, they also supplied Red Cross Nurses to operate Rests stops/ canteens along lines of communication and transport like at railway stations etc  to weary Soldiers providing much needed refreshments. They also operated Clubs for the troops to rest and recuperate playing games and watching entertainment and these Red Cross workers were known as Betreuungshelferinnen
