This rare holster was designed to be worn by  German paratroopers in a special pocket on their jump smock or can be worn on a belt as there are 2 loops on the rear to thread a belt through

The pouch is on the rear of the Jump smock and the holster buttons in so the paratrooper could get easy access to his pistol, when he landed for personnel defence before he reached the drop container with his personnel weapon either a MP40 or K98.
