The MK2 helmet saw some use on D-Day but during Operation Market Garden most front line troops were wearing the MK2 helmet. There was little change from the Mk1 helmet with the exception of the leather chinstrap now being replaced by canvas as this did not suffer shrinkage and could fit better, it was also quicker and cheaper to make. The shell and liner remained the same.
