US Ration box Paratrooper D rations Wooden Outer Box 1944 Original
Original WW2 wooden ration box for D rations.
Wooden K ration boxes from WW2 are nice and can be found fairly easliy but I do not come across the wooden boxes for the D rations very often.
This is an original wooden box for US Army Ration D bars. This box would have filled with 144 bars of ration type D when it was packed in May 1944.
The wooden box is stamped on the end with "Ration Type D 144 bars 1 per carton" and the side is stamped "MC Kay - Davis Co. Toledo Ohio USA May 1944".
There is no lid and there is some damage, split in two of the panels and one of the corners is partially missing. Sheets of plywood have been fixed on the inside of the box to strength it. There was some signs of wood worm when we purchased this box and we have since treated it.
Price is for one empty ration D box (does not include any D ration bars) which does not have a lid.
