Airborne Recognition Scarf
The Airborne Recognition scarf was worn by pathfinders and paratroopers as a way of being spotted as an Allied soldier from the air or on the ground and not being shot as enemy.
The scarf was worn around the neck but could be tied to your jeep bonnet or pinned on your fire trench so that allied aircraft could spot you and not shot you.
