Band of Brothers Film Prop Rubber American Helmet
American rubber stunts helmet film prop from the TV series "Band of Brothers".
This American helmet was specially made for the TV series "Band of Brothers" and was used as a lightweight helmet so they where more comfortable to wear when doing an action scene and safer when the stunt team used them.
This helmet was purchased with the other rubber helmets that we have been selling from Band of Brothers but this one was either not finished or was broken and was going to be fixed.
The reason for this is the shell does not have the chinstrap D bales or a chinstrap, so I think it may have been an extra one that they didn't finish as they did not need it.
We have added a paratrooper liner which has been used in the filming, this was an extra liner that came with all the helmets but it didn't have a shell. The liner is a converted post war infantry liner that has been converted into a paratrooper liner so it has the A frames and leather chincup. It has a sticker on the inside saying "Stunts". The neck/nape strap is broken where the rivet has broken.
The helmet was moulded from an original helmet and then rubber mix was poured into the mould to form the helmet into a hard rubber compound which at the time this was a new process, previously they would have been made from fibre glass which easily cracks. These helmets are a lot more durable as they flex but are still very sturdy. The shells are about as thick as a real helmet and a post war liner is fitted inside.
This rubber helmet was made to be used by the stunt team.
This helmet comprises of the following:
- Rubber shell (no chinstrap or helmet chinstrap bales).
- Plastic post war liner which has the cotton A frame strap fixed into the liner and leather chincup.
- Marked "stunts" on the inside.
