US WW2 Army Service Forces Shoulder Patch
The Army Services Forces patch was a unit set up in 1942 which reorganized the War department into three major commands which where Army ground forces, Army Air forces and the Service of supply. On the 12th of March 1943 the Service of supply was renamed the "Army Service Forces".
The Army service forces was responsible for the administration, supply and service activities of the war department. It was a complex unit that basically kept the US Army running by organising everything from housing, food and logistics.
After the Army Services Forces was established no battle or campaign was lost by a logistics failure.
