This cotton canvas cover fits over the head of the M1910 E tool, the M1910 entrenching tool was first issued in WW1 and a version of it was still in general issue at the begining of WW2 and was used during the Normandy landings. The M1910 E tool has a one piece non folding wooden shaft with a T shaped handle.

This cotton canvas cover fits over the head of the M1910 E tool, the M1910 entrenching tool was first issued in WW1 and a version of it was still in general issue at the begining of WW2 and was used during the Normandy landings. The M1910 E tool has a one piece non folding wooden shaft with a T shaped handle.
The cover has a strap which wraps around the handle below the spade head and a metal belt hook on the back so it can be fixed onto the eyelets on the back of the M1928 doughboy pack, or the eyelets on the M1936 pistol belt and the M1923 Garand belt.
