US BAR Belt. Green Original 1951
US Army 6 pocket BAR belt in green.
This is the standard M1937 B.A.R. belt which holds 12 magazines for the Browning Automatic Rifle (B.A.R.).
The green colour BAR belt is the late World War 2 colour sometimes called the M44 or M1944 BAR belt, it was issued in WW2 to be used to soldiers armed with the B.A.R. and each pocket would hold 2 magazines giving a total carrying capacity of 12 mags.
The belt is adjustable upto about 150cm and it has eyelets on the top and bottom to attach suspenders and kit like first aid pouched to it.
In Vietnam the green BAR belts where often used by SOG and LRRP teams as they could carry more M16 magazines than the standard ammunition pouches.
Original belt in almost unissued condition, some stortage marks.
The belt is dated 1951.
